New Rector

Fr. Dennis j. Parker, interim rector for the past four years, will preside for the last time in that capacity at Church of the Resurrection on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Guest clergy will hold Sunday services until July 13, when the new permanent rector, The Rev. Tasha Brubaker Garrison, will preside for the first time at COR.

During the past year The Rev. Tasha Brubaker Garrison has been serving as supply clergy for the Diocese of Michigan. Previously she was at Christ Chruch Episcopal, Richmond, VA, as assistant rector from June, 2003, to July, 2007.

 
The Rev. Deacon Maron I. Van
Rev. Van who has been a member of Church of the Resurrection since its beginning was ordained a deacon in January, 1988. In addition to assisting at most Sunday services on Wednesday morning she leads Morning Prayer, the Great Litany and participates in the Bible Study Group. Her special interest are the children of the community and the world. In Eugene she has been a volunteer at the Relief Nursery for over twenty years. At Resurrection she coordinates the preparation of the food baskets given to families at Thanksgiving. In the diocese she serves on Diocesan Council as the representative of our convocation, on the Total Ministry Task Force, and on the Dept. of Christian Education. She is an active member of the North American Association for the Diconate and has attended many of their national meetings.
 
Betty Jean Bartholomew, Director of Music and Organist.
Ms.Bartholomew is a well-known choir director and educator from her activities in the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Anglican Musicians. At Resurrection her main interest is the several choirs of the music program. Recently she spearheaded our successful campaign to fund a pipe organ. In the Diocese she has served on the Liturgy and Music Commission and for many years was coodinator of the Leadership Program for Musicians Serving Small Congregations held at Resurrection. When in the Diocese of Olympia she was awarded the Bishop's Cross for her distinguished service there in music ministry.
 
Gay Kramer-Dodd, parish secretary.
Ms. Kramer-Dodd is in the office mornings, Monday through Friday. Gay gets the bulletin ready, prepares bulk mailing, functions as receptionist and in general attends to a myriad of details involved in keeping the Church of the Resurrection running smoothly.
